XU Qiping was born in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, China in 1965. She is an artist specializing in modern Chinese painting and sculptures. She integrates African primitive art and folk art into her art. In 1999, Xu Qiping went to Africa alone to discover the beauty of primitive tribes, endless deserts and virgin forests. The originality and the wildness of Africa stunned her so much, that since then, there has been a significant change of style happened to her artistic creation. Xu Qiping has created a new style of Chinese painting with vibrant colours and vigorous brushstrokes. Her works reflect upon the modern industrial civilization and demonstrate a yearning for the harmonious existence of nature, humans and animals. Her works were exhibited in many exhibitions, art museums and art fairs.
